Smoking on one of my favorites; the Tatuaje Brown Petite. This little dynamo packs a good punch of unbelievable flavor and subtle nuances. Burns great and tastes good all the way down. The perfect stick if you have limited time and want to enjoy what time you have. I sometimes have mine with a Dirty Martini and the combination of flavors is really interesting.
I a new cigar smoker and have tried about 5-6 different brands up to this point. So far, the Tatuaje petites are my favorite. Being a father of two, I don't have long to smoke so I go toward the smaller cigars. I really like the taste of these and I'm considering buying a box. If you have any recommendations for similar type (taste) cigars that you've tried, let me know! Just trying to sample different brands/blends until I find what I like but I may stop at Tatuaje.
Chris, it looks like you're a fan of a medium bodied stick. While you have hit on one of my favorites, it probobly wouldn't hurt to try a one of the smaller ring gauge Padrons or an Illusione. If you feel like you want to go to a milder taste, Davidoff would be something good for you to try. Oliva also makes several good sticks that suit me, including a short one they call the "nub". I guess by now you've invested in a torch lighter. The wrong lighting medium could effect the flavor some. Some of the guys that work at the Southpark store can really help you zero in on the stick thats best for your particular pallet. Chris (redhaired dude) maintains quite a collection at home and his tastes are really all over the chart because he isn't opposed to trying the new ones that come out. His opinions are usually right on the mark whenever he has suggested one to me. Chad is also a good one to talk to, but get ready...his taste runs from the medium to really full flavored sticks. He ain't scared of nothing! The Petite Tat is a great little stick though, and I've always thought the box price is a value considering the the caliber stick you get. I would definitley get a box.
Thanks for the info! I've tried Padron, but wasn't overly excited by it. I've graded the cigars I've tried by the taste while smoking, as well the aftertaste and how long it sticks around. I've found that the Tats don't have a negative aftertaste and also tend not to stick with me too long which is one reason I've enjoyed them so much. I'm not a big fan of the "next morning wake-up" aftertaste. Could be due to the smaller size compared to larger coronas I've tried, so I'm going to try some larger Tats as well to determine the positive variables. I'll give the others a look that you've mentioned. (Gotta get a decent small humidor first before I pony up for a box of anything!) Thanks again!
You're welcome, man. I'm not sure if you are in Charlotte or not, but if you are and you go to the Southpark Tinderbox, a lot of the guys from the Puro Club are in there in the evening and on Saturdays and Sundays in the smoking lounge. Most of these guys have a lot of experience and know many cigars well. They're always glad to talk to a newbie and their advice is always pretty good. Just another source of knowledge available to you.
In looking at humidors, I would give a look to the Taj Mahal. Most Tinderbox stores have at least one in stock. While the seal is the best part of this box, the exterior is beautiful, it's plenty big enough to house a good collection for the beginner (has shelving inside), and the price is good for it's size. Awight..take care man.
Thanks again for the info. I live in Matthews and work uptown in Charlotte so the two shops I hit are Arboretum and Overstreet. I'll take a look at the humidor. Looking for something in the neighborhood of 50 count since I'm only smoking 1 to 2 cigars per week.
